Bringing people with WM together for support
We link WM patients seeking one-to-one peer support with volunteer Buddies who are also living with WM. It’s a chance to speak to someone who understands what it’s like to live with a rare cancer.
We match patients seeking one-to-one peer support with volunteer Buddies who are also living with WM. We’ll look to link you with someone who has similar experiences. Buddies are not medical professionals or counsellors – they are simply people like you who want to offer a listening ear and share their experiences.
Conversations can take place via email or phone, depending on what you feel most comfortable with. Generally speaking, buddies will be in touch around eight times during a three month period, but each pairing can decide what works best for them.
If you’d like a Buddy, we’ll do our best to link you with someone who has had similar WM experiences to you or are in a similar stage of life. They’re not a WM-expert, but someone who can share their experiences and signpost you to additional support.
If you’d like to be linked with a Buddy, just complete the form below.
If you are unable to complete the form for any reason, please contact our Support Line on 0300 373 8500 or support@wmuk.org.uk so that we can assist you.
As a Buddy, you’ll provide peer support to others living with WM by sharing your personal experiences, being a listening ear, and signposting back to the WMUK clinical support team when needed. We’ll provide you with training, resources and on-going support.
If you’d like to get involved, please read the full role description and apply here.
We’re here to help you live well with WM.

A huge thank you to everyone who has applied to be a volunteer Buddy for our new programme. Due to the huge number of application, we have closed this for the time being.
